Re: Hello 2010! Car Show our west anyone???

I'm looking forward to the Queens's English 2010!

Here's hoping we'll see Tony and Anna, Mike R, The Chrishams, The Duponts and, of course, Jonas Waxman there again.

Anyone else thinking of attending? How bout you Dave Green? Pim maybe???

Re: Knurled knob

Hi Michael, Yes, they are the same type of knob as fitted to the Le Mans and Sports models, 1935 to 1937. The 1933 / 34 type is different as are the posts and locking mechanisms. Dave Hardwick in the SOC stocks both early and late type knurled knobs. I have purchased the early type from him in machi...

Re: Remote oil filter for 1934 Le Mans 9 hp

Hey Brian, I have a diagram somewhere of my full-low filter system. Will have ot try and dig it out. There are many remote filter units available and the Hot Rod fraternity uses them. Samples can be found at:http://perma-cool.com/Catalog/Cat_page30.html Tony Raynor in California is running a very si...

Re: New Pre-War Singer engine castings...

Mike, Don't worry...I've driven Jim Keniston's BMC A series engined '33 Nine Sports in anger and it sounded pretty much the same as my LM. I've also driven in it at 80mph on the M25. Yes...80mph with the speedo hard against the stop. Then bits started falling off. I'd like to qualify it as '...

Re: New Pre-War Singer engine castings...

Mikey, Happy New Year! FYI, I believe a batch of six cylinder blocks were made in Germany a while back. 6 was the number I heard. There's no doubt a fully-built 'all new' engine would cost a lot..probably as much as much- or more than- the whole car, but the idea of being able to drive a pre-war Sin...

New Pre-War Singer engine castings...

Good news for all pre-warrioers out there who may be going 'crackers'! After a lot of rumors about new blocks and heads being produced for the Nine and 1.5 engines by the Gibson Brothers, they have now officially broken cover. Their current wares include... Blocks... Gibson Nine Block.jpg A brand ne...

Hey Keith, Our pleasure, my friend. Glad you like the badge. Sounds like the NASOC family is getting together with you already. Did you take any pictures of the drive with Bill that we could use for the magazine??? As Paul says on behalf of the Executive...Happy New Year to you and all. Cheers, Phil...

Re: Parts needed

Hey Steve, Bill Haverly did have castings of the radiator mascot. You need one with and 'S' on the front. Earlier models had a '9". You'll need to finish and chrome it. Stainless steel ones are also available from the Singer club in ( I think ) New Zealand. Harry Sweeney is the name I connect w...

Re: Photos from St Louis All British Car Show

Congratulations!!! Great to see another Singer being shown and promoting the marque! It doesn't matter what the award or what place you got, just showing up and sharing the car with others is the important thing! Keep on wrenching and enjoying the Singer! Ironically, my first Roadster, which had bee...

Re: What is it about the 4AD? or Philosophy 101 or Mikes new car

Hey Forrest, And now that same 4AD 'parts car' has been a 'Star at Stowe!' :D Seriously, though, Forrest, it was great to see you and Dale at the show and to share your enthusiasm. And kudos to you for saving what is going to be a very nice, original Roadster, rather than a source of parts. It was i...

Re: What is it about the 4AD? or Philosophy 101 or Mikes new car

Hey Mike, The wife has five dogs and three cats, so that would equal at least 8 Singers. I figure I've got 'spousal room' to move! I considered a change from the MG 'Y" engine, which is a bit of a lump, to a smaller BMC A-Series, but the purist in me won out. I drove Jim Keniston's Sport...

Re: What is it about the 4AD? or Philosophy 101 or Mikes new car

Thanks Mike, Sadly a bit less complete than it looks: The dash went missing during storage and it was fitted with an MG Y engine and gearbox back in the mid 50's. Luckily, like you, I tend to be a 'hoarder' and so have all the bits in stock, including a '34 engine and gearbox, but bar a speedo. Just...
