as long as you are running GTX in your motor, I would not think its a issue with oil getting thin, what oil are you using ? it should be Castrol GTX 20-50 no matter what your mechanic says, that is what it should be.

no idea what "bang bang" could be, but is it possible its Tap Tap instead ? without hearing it, no way to know for real but if your valves clearances are way out of spec, that is sound that will quiet down as the engine warms up but its a tapping sound, not a bang sound.
