Bantam

I feel the need to jump in here and say that I must agree with Paul. It is hard to imagine anyone but Phil being able to make the best use of these Bantam remains. As our club Pre-war expert Phil's invaluable advice and experience should have been tapped in the first place. No one knows more about ...

Support your registrars

I concur with Paul. The registrars are the first port of call for all but especially new owners of pre-war and post-war Singers. I was absolutely astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge Phil Avis, our Pre-war Registrar had at his finger-tips about the Singer Le Mans. The man is a walking ...

Mike Rambour: Kenlis Pearce needs help signing on

Mike: Kenlis Pearce, who has a twin-carb 4AD is having a great deal of trouble trying to sign on to the bulletin board so he can get advice on tuning his 4AD engine. I've helped him with whatever literature I could copy and send him from the club library--Could you please contact him directly and ...

Singer spares

Don't forget Bill Haverly in England also. Address in every issue of the NASOC news. Very reasonable prices and he knows the roadsters inside and out. I've purchased many parts from him over the years for Blood Puddin' and have been very happy.

Thanks to Paul

Paul: you've given all of us club members a great Christmas gift in the form of your purchase of the Super Duper 10. A great addition to our club that adds variety and depth. Also, the time and effort you've put into documenting your restoration with text and photos for us here on this BB is greatly ...

Lucas sport coil

Patrick: I have a Lucas sport coil on my 4A with 4AD engine. Works fine. It won't look period correct, of course, if that's a concern--wasn't for me; mine came with a sort of anodized gold colored finish to it. Could be painted I suppose.

upgrading brakes

Hi John: Will the sanctioning body for your vintage racing allow such a modification from stock? If so (perhaps for safety reasons) I would suggest getting in touch with Bill Haverly in the UK for parts and advice, or David Green here at NASOC for Gazelle info.

Congratulations!!

I can't believe no one else has replied yet. Let me be the first--a hearty CONGRATULATIONS Paul on a job well done. Can't wait to hear that engine purr at Stowe next year. Keep up the good work. You may, ahem, have to stay at the back with Haley on the Stowe 2007 picnic rally as horsepower in Weasel ...

hinges

Pekka: the link Paul has posted is for the ones that seem to be the best fit and are the ones I have on my car. It would be (b) in your message. As far as the hinge strip, the cut brass end would be covered by the hinge. Not sure about bonnet rests, as I have a 4A and the bonnet is different. Looks ...

Hinge ends

I have the Paul Beck hinge ends as described by my learned friend Mr. Bouchard. They do fit well, but expect to probably make some modifications. How much hinges (sorry I couldn't resist) on what a previous owner has done. In my case, on Blood Pudding, my 1949 roadster, it wasn't too bad.

Separate site on Stowe

Mike: I have to disagree with you on this. I think the website/blog for Stowe that Paul established is a good idea. The more ways of retrieving information about Singers and getting the word out about Singers, the better. I do not see a conflict with this site and the official site. I congratulate ...
