WOW these things are BIG brake drums

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

WOW these things are BIG brake drums

Post by mikeyr »

Got my new brake drums from Len for the 1.5, WOW these things are huge. And they look great too.

The green one on the left is a original brake drum, since these are finned drums for better cooling they are bigger and I knew that but wow. Just goes to show everything is bigger on the 1.5 then the 9, I should take a comparison pic since I have those drums also. Sorry no pic of the drums on the car, they did not fit :( I still have the original brake shoes in place and these new drums would not go over that, I have no doubt they will fit flawlessly once I remove the frozen wheel cylinder and allow the shoes to retract as it was awfully close to fitting.
green one is original, then 3 drums on top of each other and one to show inside

I see a little subliminal advertising with the prancing horse.

I can barely walk in the garage right now, I was lucky to have that much floor space to open the crate with the drums. 2 cars too many in the garage right now (and the Prancing Horse is not one of the too many).

Congratulations to our own Len Pearcey of Picton, Ontario, Canada, for producing this first set of 1.5 drums as a continuation of our Nine alloy finned drum project. What a great job!

So hat's off to Len! The man is a master pattern maker and these were a real steal compared to what it would have cost to produce them in the UK!
