ok, fess up, what are you doing this 3day weekend ?

I am cleaning the garage on Sat. morning, BBQ for lunch and then locking the garage door with me inside, I won't come until Monday night

Time to work on the car for the first time in 2 years, lets see how far I get. Garage has everything I need for a few days for work, fridge, internet and stereo...looking so forward to it, been planning this weekend for 6 months. I was up until 2AM (and still made it to work at 7:30) welding up new spring brackets for the daughters boyfriend's Jeep just so I would not have to do anything except Singer fun this weekend. Now his Jeep rides stupidly high on the road and he is happy. I am not even gonna ride my motorcycle, but I may give the Dino a bath and wax. The goal is to check out the 1.5 this weekend, its sat all these years waiting its time to find out what I really purchased and see if I can fire it up, I have to take apart the front end first, some broken parts in the front suspension.

Oh yeah....life is going to be GOOD !

I am working on a new toy. 1952 Morris Minor convertible. Typical Arizona car, no rust except for a small spot on the frame rail where the master cylinder leaked and rotted through. I bought it from a friend of Dave Greens. It had been sitting idle since 1971. I cleaned the carb and she fired up! It only has a 848cc flathead engine. Now what kind of modern engine can I stuff it to it! So many choices!

Well I did work on old cars. Sorry Mike not Singers. Close by family. Sue's newest baby. A Sunbeam Tiger 1965. Yes I said Sue's. She informed me our latest purchase is hers and I replied great (now she can enjoy the sweat equity that needs to be put into a total restoration). She is working on it with me! FUN< FUN< FUN in the SUN! BEAM!!!!
Oh and I did drop the gas tank on a 1968 Buick and repair the tank sender ofn father in laws old car.

Hello Mike,

I had a Singer weekend as well. I've been rebuilding a backup engine for my 4AD. This weekend I installed the crankshaft & pistons with new cylinder sleeves in the block, new mains & rod bearings and new rings. The head is ready to be installed, then for the timing challenges when I install the oil pump, distributor, flywheel and cam gear. It is going well. Also, I cleaned up my Singer and loaded it in the trailer for a car show in Arkansas next wekend. The "Cars and Cycles against Cancer" show in Blytheville drew over 700 cars last year. My Singer came home with the "Peoples Choice" award. Probably won't be that fortunate this year since the novelty has probably worn off. Good Luck with your project.

Awesome glad some people got to work on Singer's...Sunbeam, Singer, Morris, yeah its a stretch but they were all from the right country.

I did not do what I planned even though I did spend the weekend in the garage, I had hoped to work on the 1.5 but during the week last week my wife and I cleaned out a storage area that we rented last year when we moved. Of course that stuff ended up in my garage and I spend 1 day organizing it, then I worked on the LM because it was easier to get to the tools I needed for that, there is still some wiring to do before I move the compressor to its final working place and the compressor in its temporary location is in the way of getting the 1.5 off the lift, so I started doing the LM cowl woodwork, pretty much have to replace every piece of wood there. Got a good start.

Over the past several months I completed a full engine rebuild and replaced the engine in my 1952 4AD. New cylinder sleeves, rings, mains & rod bearings. Compression at 125-130, oil pressure at 35psi/35mph. Runs great! No smoke! No oil leaks (yet)!

This past Saturday, I took it to the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Diamond Jubilee (75th Anniversary) in Louisville, KY. Over 700 great cars in an indoor, air-conditioned venue (90 degrees outside). My car received alot of attention and achieved the Senior classification that I was seeking. I met several other Singer owners (without their cars). One of them from New Jersey, asked for your e-mail address which I gladly supplied. He said he has three Singers, two of them in Texas. Sorry, I can't remember his name. Another couple is planning to start a restoration and I supplied them with the information to join NASOC.

I wish that I could return to Mad Dogs this year but unfortunately, I can't. Hope you all have another great event.

Hey Mark,

Great to hear you've been able to fettle your 4AD into good health. The club can always count on you to fly the Singer flag for us at events and to bring attention to the marque. Well done on your success. Do you have any photos from these events that we could put in e-News or NASOC NEWS?

Sorry to hear that you won't be at Mad Dogs this year. The 10 car showing a few years ago was a great event!
