Recently I bought a Singer Nine Sports, and i'm a new member on this Forum.

I need to replace the steering ball joint (all 4), but can't find them.... any suggestions?

I'm also curious if anyone knows more about chassis numbers and build years, my Singer has chassis number 45862 and the registration says build year 1937, but in my opinion it should be 1932 or 1933?

The same with the installed engine, there should be a 972cc installed and on the license it says 1074cc who can tell me more?
I think the engine number is 9749YA but it is hard to read

My November !933 registered 1934 model year nine 4 seater with the Special Speed engine has chassis number 50325 and engine number 52630 which being a Special Speed (LeMans) 972cc engine has twin downdraught Solex Carburetters, Your 'fuel side' looks completely different to mine with a single crossdraught and different manifolds.

Congratulations on the purchase of this lovely Singer and welcome to our group!

First off, this car is remarkable as it is Left Hand Drive. I have just written an article on this car in NASOC NEWS, our club magazine, and requested information from the seller, but never got a reply. I would be very happy to get more information from you about it as a follow-up article.

The car is indeed an early 1933 Nine Sports 4 seater, but with many modifications done to it. The one modification that may be original is the LHD steering, as the parts for this LHD version are actually listed for the early Nine Sports in the Singer parts catalogues.

The photos of the 4 tie rod ends you require show a much more modern sealed unit, not the original spring loaded Singer design. I cannot tell you what type were used on your car just from the visual inspection.

The engine in your car is an early 972cc unit from what I can tell and has the rear mounted breather pipe high up on rear end of the block. This was used from late 1932 to late 1935. The very special part of this engine is the exhaust manifold, exhaust down pipe and carb, which would be unique to the LHD version.

If you can confirm the car number and chassis number - which should be the same - the SOC has access to the factory record cards. This will confirm if you car was actually ordered with LHD and if it was indeed exported as new to the Netherlands.

The chassis number from the registration number matches the chassis number on the car.

A very interesting Singer I think the first early sports I seen which was delivered LH drive necessitating a different exhaust manifold?
