trunk latch--how does it work?

trying to restore 1946 Singer and puzzLED by the trunk latch mechanism. It has a square piece to insert something to turn it to latch it but I see only a round cover on the photos of similar Singers. Does it have a handle to turn ???HELP!

Yes it has a t-handle. You insert the t-handle and turn it it’s the same t-handle that unlocks the hood/bonnet to get to the engine on the 4ADs

WOW THAT MAKES SENSE---i HAVE THE ROUND BASE BUT NOT THE ROUND COVER
FOR THE TRUNK LID HANDLE. ANYONE SELL THOSE?

Yes MOSS and many Brit car places. Common on several makes of cars

The round spring loaded covers for budget locks are often available from engineering supply shops that sell the budget locks -at least this has been my experience in Australia.
