Any guess what this bracket could be on 1934 LM ?

I have no idea but I did sandblast it a decade ago and painted it so at the time I had to think it was a proper part for the car

It was in my pile with brake parts but that only means it was in that area on the chassis. I can’t find the bracket in any of my pictures I took while disassembly

Is it the original steering bracket cut down?

I don’t think so.

It may not be original but at the time I took the car apart I must have been sure it was or I would not have painted it

It MAY go here as a brake pedal stop

Based on very unclear old pictures and there are some rub marks on the pedal lever and the bracket that align right up

This is the pictures I am looking at, taken 20 years ago before I took the car apart. You can see there is "something" in front of the bracket for the master cylinder that would act as a stop for the brake pedal. Because this was in the box with master bracket and painted, I have to assume that is what this is, just never seen that on other cars.

I don't have one on either of mine, but I'll check to see if there is a bolt hole.

It uses the same hole as the forward hole of the brake bracket

Ok I installed the master bracket using the mystery bracket. You can the rub/wear marks that imply it was always there

Sure looks correct. Did you zinc plate your parts?

My mistake Mike. I do have them. I just don't remember having installed them. That is exactly what they are for.

cool thank you. Taking all those pictures 20 years ago when I took it apart has helped me again. Only bad part on this part of the project is that I welded up a hole in the frame that was supposed to be there, have to re-drill it I guess. Both that bracket and the master cylinder bracket have holes that look like they could line up, but the frame has no hole on the bottom lip. I guess I didn't know what it was for 20 years ago and welded it up...oops.

And yes, I Zinc plate everything. I started out 20 years ago with the Eastwood kit using a battery and I quickly found out it works but has its limits and upgraded to Caswell Zinc/Cad with a rectifier for my son-in-law's Mini. I had the battery go out on me too many times in the middle of plating. In the picture above, the bolt going through the brake pedal is not yet plated, that is why its ugly

I have a zillion BSF nuts and bolts coming in the mail, so I will be plating next week. I could not find the internal tooth washers that Singer used in plain steel. I used to get them with my BSF nuts/bolts but no one seems to carry them anymore, I finally found them in stainless at McMaster, a bit more expensive but at least I won't have to spend time plating them.
