I have 2 trunk lids, one is complete rotten but is from the car. The other not bad, maybe once repaired, but a little different.

What is the original woodwork inside?
The one on top has one piece of wood in a corner, the other not, but this one has a part of wood extra in the middle...
(I already started with making a new part for the bottom}

including the missing top corner on the middle left side?
This makes the repair easy, the top one is good enough to copy.
The bottom one is broken in pieces....

I don't remember the exact details well enough to be sure, but it looks like there was at one time that little triangular piece on the left as well, i would put one back in.

The design of the center wooden section of the trunk lid is made to accept the top of the spare wheel when the trunk id closed. There is an oval hole in the inner trunk lid plywood panel. This panel is cover in black leatherette (vinyl)

The top trunk lid is correct, but is missing the metal folding side straps, which appear to be on the lower trunk lid.

The metal corner brackets are not correct on the lower trunk lid, but were probably fitted when the lid stated to flex and fail. The lower corners are super-thin and barely enough wood for the small wood screw to hold into.

Here's a Singer publicity shot of the 4AD trunk and lid. This is the same as the earlier 4A, which it looks like you have:

This weekend I made a complete new one, a little modified for the strength..

The original grey one had a strange repaired hole in the middle, so I think I have to use the red aluminium outside plate.
The woodwork from the red one is also not perfect, so I think the new one will work for a few years...
