This is simply Brilliant!

How has progress been since then?

May I ask, since the water/coolant outlet manifolds are exceedingly rare and, in a cast iron cum aluminium environment act as a sacrificial anode, whether powder coating or some other treatment, at least on the inside, might prevent the kind of corrosion that led to the failure of the previous piece?

Warm Wishes for winter completions of all the little bits...

Cheers,

David

I'm a bit wary of putting anything in the water ways that might become detached and block the radiator. I prefer to rely on antifreeze with a good corrosion inhibitor. The original alloy castings lasted over 80 years and I expect Dave Hardwick's slightly thicker ones to do the same. At least they are easier to replace than the cast iron.

Will you be sticking with the original green and ivory?

Sadly, No. I did consider Ivory and sage green but in the end I decided that ivory and green are more suited to a small sports car whereas this Lagonda lookalike deserved something more sophisticated and I'm going for dark green (RAL6012). I'm hoping it will look as good as this:

WOW that looks good...maybe I should change my color. I had decided on RAL 6005 years ago. Its also a dark green, my wife says a bit of blue but I don't see it. I really don't know why British Racing Green is so hard to find, it seems all over the place on color and darkness.

Pretty close to the green on mine. Good choice to go solid for the more exquisite vehicle.

Apparently there is no colour classed as British Racing Green Mike, so you just take your pick. I used RAL 6005 on my MG which is OK but I wish I had gone a shade darker (please forgive the non-Singer picture!).

I see what you mean about 6005 on the MG, I may have to rethink my color, good thing that so far I have only painted a few minor parts and can re-spray them.

I had chosen 6005 only because I could get powder in the same color and I like to powder coat parts instead of paint. Thanks for the picture they really help.

It's been a bit quiet on here lately. Is everyone having login problems like me?

Here is the latest photo from Nigel showing new inner wheel arch in a sample colour.

Hello Brian - those parts look really good. I have logged on most days without any trouble only to find little or no activity. I think its the curse of Facebook!

Currently I have nothing to report although my friend Dick plans to start on my windscreen surround for the Light Six next week. :D I have fitted the wind up windows in the doors and the fixed window glass is cut to size so just needs to be fixed with mastic which I will do now the weather has warmed up.

Because I have already spent far more on the Six than she is worth I will have a go at covering the seats myself. I would be glad of any tips on how to sew the fluting into the leather.

She is anyway road legal (has been for a couple of years) so I will take her out this year come what may!

Regards
Colin

Not just quiet here but DEAD last few months.

It happens there are up and down swings but yes Facebook is killing the forum.

I am working on my car little but every day but on the motor and since it’s not a Singer motor I figured no one was interested so not posting. I make a point of being in the garage half hour a day after work. Sometimes even a few hours.

Hi Colin, there are videos on YouTube on how to sew flutes but they all seem to make hard work of it. Back in my youth I used hesian backing and felt padding but nowadays I would use cotton wadding. Sew the leather to the hesian before using a couple of steel rules to push the wadding through. Careful marking out is the key. This is one way of doing it:

More photos from John on the progress with the steering column. He's managed to marry a modern horn button to the bakelite disk that I found behind the door card.
