US8155

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

Thanks Colin. All credit to John Parker and Hardwick's for supplying the water manifolds and other spares.

Some progress at last with a lot of help from friends and family. Original brake drums powder coated and new hubs curtesy of Singer Owners' Club. Getting ready to reinstall the engine after Singer National Day.

looking good...I guess everyone has been busy with non-Singer stuff since its been so slow here but happy to see progress on your car.

Guess its my turn to post some progress pics or is it Colin's turn ?

Good progress on the 4A section, we need to liven up the pre-war section.

I had thought about buying new hubs, I saw new ones in a newsletter from the UK and not sure which one now, my hubs are "ok" but should have gotten them when they were available. Those look really good !

I didn't realise that I needed new hubs until someone pointed out how fine the splines are on the 1.5. The club had a batch made and these were left over so I got them at a very good price. I am always surprised that I can get spares for a car that was made in limited numbers 90 years ago.

With the chassis painted and new brake pipes fitted my wife kindly volunteered to collect the engine from John Parker's garage. I am unable to drive now since my MND has progressed to the stage where I am unable to operate the pedals.

John came over and with a little help from me and Jean fitted the engine, relined clutch, referbed gearbox and new prop shaft. With two new carbs I can't believe how good it all looks and can't wait to get the body ready to go back on!

The Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency have just sent me my vehicle registration certificate (V5C) with the original UK registration number - US 8155. Thanks to Liz Heyer and the Singer Owners' Club for all their help in achieving this.

Presumably, this picture of the car in its original colours was taken before it left the UK.

Brian,
A word of caution. It is your car, but the photo was B&W. I colourized it some time ago according to what I was told were the original colours.

Thanks Peter. I have a B&W version and it looks like you got it right. According to the build record it was originally Ivory & Green. I have found traces of Ivory but have not come across any green (apart from the seats). These colours look great on the small sports cars but I'm not sure they suit a 'posh' tourer. My preference at the moment is for very dark green.

Do you know where the original photo came from? I believe it was a postcard and must predate the car's export to the US in the early sixties.

No idea where it came from, but it does look like the old post card format.

Thanks for your kind words, Bill. I will pass them on to the team. In the meantime here is a picture of the latest progress showing refurbished front springs, axle and brakes.

I agree Colin but I have asked Nigel Webber to help me with the body and if the results are as good as his Concourse winning, 1935 nine four seater it should do the chassis proud.
