new body in the works

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

Mike, that carpentry looks fantastic. No wonder your daughter wants you to repair her house. But I get you first to help with my stair project! As far as the kids, as much as I love mine very much, when they left home I basically said don't let the door hit you in the axx. Once they showed they could do things themselves I began helping. I figured I couldn't coddle them all their life so I gave them the test of tough love first. My oldest son said he doesn't know if he should deck me or hug me for his lesson in self reliance. So tell daughter the car comes first and you'll be around eventually.

Those parts will be fitted now but I will have to remove them and clean them up.

Yeah, I have been way too busy. I swore when I started this body build that by the time he was ready to ship it, I would have engine in and my chassis ready to go...not a single minute of work on my chassis has been done. But Daughter is moved in, her house is nearly finished...laid 1,450sq. ft. of tile, I am DEAD, decades ago it was not a problem but the ground is now further away then it used to be and gravity is stronger than it used to be when I have to get up from being on my knees. I will be working on my chassis while the body is on the boat on its way here.

Ah - I thought the chassis in the picture was yours but I realise that this is a spare being used by the body builder.

Yes, the builder has his own chassis that he builds on, makes sure everything fits that way.

This is my chassis, dusted it off this afternoon and I put the old firewall on to try and figure out the angle for the steering column, I am missing a bracket at the bottom, the one that goes to the frame and I needed to be close to correct angle to make that one. I also had to weld up and repair the big steering column bracket that holds it all in place, when I got my car it was welded to the front crossmember, removed it years ago but never "fixed" it. Found my shocks too, bought those well over a decade ago. Its going to be to interesting seeing how much I have lost :)

Underneath the chassis you can see a rear wing body part that I made back when I thought I was going to build the body, so happy I got to buy a body instead. And YES the Mini is still in my &*^%#$% garage, can't wait until its out but son-in-law is not ready for it at his place yet.

Chassis looks good Mike! The C section is so resistant to corrosion compared to the box section of later cars.

Body nearly done... some cleanup work and it will be on its way.

One issue came up, Tim (the guy building the body) thinks I got saloon door handles instead of LM and they are pointed up, but a simple twist in the handle bar will solve the problem (he says).

Working on the chassis :) and you will never guess what I can't find :( :( :( the front wing supports !!! I have looked everywhere and can't find them. Good thing I don't need them yet, but scares me to think what else I may have in 2 decades of other cars and 2 moves to my current garage.

Mine are pointed up on my Sports as well. I think DH cast them so I'm not sure they will twist. It certainly hasn't bothered me in twenty years of ownership.

And its FINISHED !!! Ready for shipping as soon as we hear back from shippers. Oh and I found my wing support brackets, wife and I tore the garage apart, literally emptied it and looked through every box, in a box full of 4AD parts, were the brackets along with the headlamp bracket that goes from rad shell to wing...forgot about those.

Now comes the LONG wait for it to arrive, if the shippers ever reply to Tim.

The Body has been in Belgium almost a full day now...what are they doing over there, eating Fries ?

UK to Belgium, to Germany to USA, seems like a convoluted trip. It stayed at Woodhall Spa and Castle Donington only a few hours each time but come on...somebody is anxious to get the thing...
Customs documentation query. We're doing our best to resolve this and will contact the sender/receiver if necessary.
Is why its held up, but no contact from them. If they contact Sender, then there will be no reply until Monday :( but I am ready to answer any questions right now.
