Thank u mike & Brian..yes having fun…
Teake Thank you heaps for the photos love them.
We only had half a bracket..
We weren’t happy with bolt size..so the waiting game starts..no local stainless steel bolts..

The wire harness has given us a headache after never attempted before..
Thought for a second we might concede but the thought of someone else not knowing & butchering our wiring.
I rang the folks who made the harness.
All became very clear then.
Harness is all numbered..1 to 1…2 to 2…so on..

The most important thing is the wire identification, when this is correct, the rest is just a piece of cake. The basic is where the cable should run, the one for the tail, tank meter etc, goes from the front in the chassis to the rear. the outgoing wire from the steering wheel is connecting to the main harness.
For me it was a job without papers, numbers and wire colours, but because of my job it was not a big deal.
I am not sure about the right routing, but my 4A is wired complete now, and (almost) all is working.
Start with connecting the dashboard, to look what can be the best routing from the cable.
Mine is laying complete behind the dashboard.
So if you need information, no problem.

Wiring-Schematic.jpg
I had the most on this one, found somewhere on the www
you can print it out and rename your own wires. The only one was the tail connection on the dash switch, but I can make a picture from mine.
You have 2 next to each other, when you have the wrong one, in the first position the tail goes on, and the second the head goes on and tail off.
The other is ok, and both positions tail is on.
Tail is red

We wernt happy with wire stripper fraying new braided harness..

Not keen on spending more so we rigged up our version of thermal wire stripper.

Very happy with results

Ladies, I am amazed at your ingenuity, but this reinforces my decision to go with modern 'thin-wall' insulated wire. Love watching your progress, though!

Thank you Brian for kind words.
If we had read about this before we also would have purchased modern wire.
We just thought in keeping with originality..

Maybe our post will help future singer restorers..

Steering column wire is stuck in tube.

Any ideas about removing it guys..

They didn’t leave us any both ends.

I should weld a 5 mm drill on a 6 mm rod from a meter length an use the drilling machine.
with the difference in thickness, only the old shit can be damaged.
with a little luck, the old wires are coming out after the first centimetres, when not, drill also from the other side

Whooa! I would guess that the shit only extends a few centimetres. Try scraping it out with (say) a small screwdriver until you can grab the remains of the wire with long nose plyers. If that doesn't work try a decking screw (long woodscrew). If all else fails the drill welded to the end of a rod is an option - or cut the tube off and weld on another!

Thank you Brian.

After another google looks like there is a compression fitting stoping wire..

Google information..
The compression fitting, when tight should prevent the tube from rotating with the steering wheel

Looks like we are missing control heads harness.
