Forgive my slowness Joanna, but aren't these your START and CHOKE cables?

They are the original Singer ones and a buff-up with some compound will bring the Bakelite up nicely.
If the cables or sleeves are not good, I recall that the cables were soldered into the ends of the shaft the knob is attached to and that the sleeves are crimped in place. I replaced parts of those on my 4A many years ago.

Thank u guys..put cable on hold for the moment..

Merry Xmas & happy new year to all..

Nice break..mum not well so a little slow lately..

We have to wait 3 months for wiring harness..only 1 place & they make 1500 different harness..

So back to dreadful doors..

If we had realized beforehand..would’ve wasted so much metal..

Hindsight is a wonderful thing..

Determination we have but now understand will have small flaws due to age and character..

We installed new self leveling hinge balls but not sure if they should tapper down a little..

Made a template of door opening to cut new inner skin metal.

Cut and sanded door so now have 10mm gap all round..

Happy with hinges now..had to angle top in so door would be eye pleasing..

Looking good Joanne. I think "age and character" are important parts of car restoration as without them we would all give up at the first problem!

Thank you Colin..

Your words give us encouragement..

We had a little break..have to wait 3 months for wiring harness..

We won the door challenge..only took 6 months & 10 doors..

But finally happy now.

The tapered hinge balls no good..standard better fit..

We learnt when annealing do opposite side of door skin..the aluminum will rise when annealing.

Sandwich door between 2 pieces cut the same shape as doors..

The more clamps the better..

Your wiring is arrived from Autosparks?
Or still on his way?
Mine arrived yesterday, good quality, I hope in a few weeks to mount him.
First the rear axle bearings back on place :)

Thank you Brian & teake

Wire harness. From vintage wiring harness in Australia.
Still waiting.

Have been busy organizing pool install for mum.

Fussy ladies we are..we weren’t happy with top of door..

So redid..

Now have full understanding of these doors.

Information for anybody attempting

1st find the grain...most important..cut extra for ends on compound curve.
Soot all of bend...make sure all soot removed when annealing then quench.
We secured to bench so no movement with clamps.

Purchased etching primer.

Thank you heaps Colin.

Finally happy with passenger door...we can work with these now..

Purchased canopy and all paint supplies...lots of sandpaper..

Having trouble with running boards position.

Previous owner sent us down wrong road with bars under door instead of under frame.

Would anybody please have measurements were to cut frame.

Have marked we’re I think..followed timber width.
