Wow! Great job. Did you do the uphostery yourselves or get a professional to do it?

that is so cool that you can now get the door hinge ball, when I finished my 4AD many decades ago, I had to make my own. Using equipment I already had and not knowing better, I cast them with lead. They worked great for a month or 2, much too soft a metal. Later I purchased a small metal lathe for a different project and made some new ones on that, what a nightmare of a job it was. Nowdays it seems if you need it, you can find it on the net, except the parts I need to my 9 LM of c course.

Your upholstery looks really good, Making really good and very fast progress.

Thank you Colin Brian & mike..

Brian a lovely local lady did it..great price also..under $3000

Mike thank god we can purchase..sounds expensive learning..

While we were waiting thought we would check out starting engine.

After unraveling fuel line to discover the connections were different.

Purchased cloth covered fuel line..will update those pics..

Then discovered the pull start switch in box.

Confused exactly we’re it goes.

Thought we would just use our vw bench wire kit.

We are not sure if positive battery lead runs from starter to pull starter.

Then pull starter back to battery.

The pull starter is simply a contact switch between the battery and the starter motor Joanne. So one terminal takes the lead from the battery (positive for a negative earth vehicle or the other way round for a positive earth) and the other terminal has a lead to the starter motor's contact on the end. You just pull (or push) on the rod to make contact and fire up the starter motor.

You won't have hurt anything by a direct link from battery to starter. I pulled the attached picture off the net which shows the switch on the bulkhead below the battery. Looks to be as good a place as any! A wire will go from the switch to a puller on the dashboard.

To keep it easy: the starter switch is the same as the Morris Minor one, my 1951 MM has the same as my 4A's
And, you know you can buy a remade wiring loom for the 4A?

I would use a bit of trial and error on the cables Joanne. There are numerous choke cables with knobs and sleeves on the net (at least there are in the UK) so if you use a piece of string or anything to check the length you should be able to buy one to suit. On my Light Six I couldn't get the exact length I needed so I used a piece of wire with an eye in the end to bridge from the carb to the end of the cable. This is a useful thing as you can easily alter the length if its either not choking sufficiently for starting, or choking during running to make too rich a mixture. The starter cable can use a similar principle.

I have some original 4AD starter and choke cables, I will measure them up this weekend for you and post back. But as Colin said, its not very critical to be exact. I will post the specs up tomorrow
