Knowing how keen we are to pass on to the next generation our love of elderly Singers. I though you'd like to see our grandson Sam in our office. He is so keen we have given him what was to be my next project...another 1934 4 seat. He loves to get into his overalls to do the next bit & his patience is amazing for a 13 year old!!
He's already completed front and rear axles together with springs & associated brackets etc; but inevitably from the boxes of bits making up the car there are a few missing essentials.
Top & bottom rear shocker brackets; one hand brake cam and both operating levers; all front wing supports. The condition is not important as long as it's repairable or a pattern to copy - all part of the learning process!
Any help would be appreciated

Progress is being made on Sam's Singer as ours is having hood, sidescreens and carpets completed.
We are looking for parts to complete the rear axle:
2 off hand brake cams (splined type that go through the back plate)
2 off handbrake cam operating levers.(attach to the cams and cables)
These are for 1934 9 tourer
I may have a few bits for exchange if you are looking for anything in particular, otherwise £ + postage as usual of course.

I would give Arthur Michell a ring Bill - his bus garage has loads of SOC pre-war parts which he will pass on for very modest money in my experience.

Hi Colin,
I thought of Arthur so your post has confirmed it. We are anticipating a trip down to Rutland to have the block stitched so the 2 visits could be combined. We managed to move the last of the 'gunk' out of the crank oil ways today so that was good as I hate soldering the copper pipes back into the iron crank...been there done that bought the T shirt
Tomorrow it should be con rods and mains etc. The really good thing is that Sam loves it and is intrigued. I just hope it stays that way as I do my best to keep his interest going...despite the age difference!!

Arthur is there most Fridays Bill. You could also try Bill Tull who is a bit nearer to you on the Humber, but the SMC (ASCO) spares hoard is quite a lot smaller than the SOC one. The other benefit of Arthur's place is that there are often other enthusiasts there who can help with advice and may have their one spares stores.

Side screen frame progress on ours should recommence Monday. I was more than happy for the upholsterer to keep away whilst he had a cold!!
Hood frame looks good now it's painted satin black. Woolies parcel of goodies arrived yesterday; it included clear plastic for 'screens and rear window and all the pegs and sockets.

has anyone noticed that Christmas is nearly here again? We've been busy on side screen frames for the 9/14 and have just started on the hood. But have put that on hold whilst we rebuilt the steering wheel for our grandson's 9 - part of his Christmas present...have attached before & after pics

Hi Folks & welcome to 2020!
Over the holidays we straightened welded and cleaned the chassis on Sam's car so it's now ready for paint. Visited Arthur Mitchel and found a handbrake operating arm so we know what we're looking for now! Found the rear shock lower mounts and a pair of front wing supports which need a bit of work but are eminently usable. Also found a few bits which weren't on our list but which we know we'll need later. Thanks for the tip Colin it was very worthwhile visit!!
We left 2 blocks at the stitchers for him to choose the "least worst"...quote expected next week

The poor man's milling machine! Needing to cut a woodruff key slot in a steel bar to rebuild a 9 gear box remote, this was the answer we cameup with. It worked really well!!
