The one with the car had a chewed metal panel (too rough to call it hand cut) anditwas attached with an old skirting board.

Hi David,
What is a 'skirting board' if you don't mind?
Thanks in advance and
Happy New Year,
David

Re: Singer Junior Project
Hello David,
The skirting board is the piece of wood that runs along the bottom of a wall to cover the edge of the floorboards where they butt up to it. Its normally just a piece of soft wood about 6" deep with a moulding along the top edge.

Commonly referred to as a baseboard in North America. No automotive application.

Re: Singer Junior Project
Hi
I have had my diff crown wheel and pinion setup as best as possible.
I know to use an oil suited to 1930 era cars I am not sure the weight.
The book says Motorine Amber B
Would the Penrite T90 be suitable or to light?
Engine spec is Motorine C as Australia is severe conditions, so what weight do I choose?
Regards

Re: Singer Junior Project
I used to use sae 140 in my '31 saloon...that was in UK. Never had any problems in almost 100k miles (yes I used it as an every day car back in the '60's!!)

Thanks Bill
That's thicker than I thought. I'm glad I asked.
And what grade for the motor?

Re: Singer Junior Project
I'm using Shelsley Medium in my Junior engine which seems to be OK plus T90 in the diff. I have however put T140 in my Coupe so you take your pick!

Re: Singer Junior Project
Hi
Are the half shafts different on the left and the right on the singer Junior?
One has a finer thread for the castle nut. Is this usual?

Re: Singer Junior Project
Hi David
they were both the same on my '31. Difference in threads might be due to them being from different suppliers. I know Singer & Remax did them and there may well have been others. Some I came across had the castle nut stripped of its threads, presumably having been put on the wrong 1/2 shaft
