Hello from a Gloucestershire Newbie

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

Hello from a Gloucestershire Newbie

Post by Ratchet »

Hello all,

I'm about to become the proud owner of a 1947 Singer 9 Roadster. Since it's essentially a pre-war car built after the war I'm not sure if I'm in the right place or if I should be on the other channel.

Anyway - since this is my first Singer I'd be keen to hear from any owners in the Gloucester / Tewkesbury / Cheltenham / Malvern area.

All the best,

Stu

Hey Stu,

Welcome aboard and welcome to the NASOC Singer Bulletin Board!

The pre-war Singer Roadster was based on the Bantam Saloon chassis and running gear and only built for a short period before the war.

The post-war A series, as well as the 4A that followed, were based on the newer "light Ten" chassis, using the same 1074cc engine as the pre-war Roadster. It is actually longer with a much stronger frame than the pre-war version.

Your thread would be the "4A's and Up" Roadster channel, but all are welcome!

I've owned a number of Singer Roadsters over the years, my last being A-512-Q, a '47 model like yours.

We'd be happy to see some photos posted of your car to share with other Singer enthusiasts, if you'd like.

Cheers,
Phillip

Hi

I am relatively local to you, Severn Stoke near Upton upon Severn.

I used to own a Singer Le Mans, however, that now lives about 4 miles from me. A monthly meet that may interest you - hear me out! - is the third Wednesday from about 7pm at the Farmers Arms, Birtsmorton. Nominally it is a MGCC gathering, however one is more likely to hear discussions about Austin Sevens, Rileys, ACs and so on. One of the attendees used to work for Rootes back in the 1950s and is very well aware of the early Singer engines and their foibles. It is not necessary to be a member of the MGCC to come along and have a pint and a natter.

Cheers

Roly

Thanks Phillip and Hello Roly,

I know Severn Stoke & Upton. You're not far from me at all. Birtsmorton is even closer. I think I'll wander along and say hello.

Regards,

Stuart
