Original 1934 Le Mans

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

Oh...and there was also the feature article on AVM in the CAA (Canadian Automobile Association) members magazine, written, if I recall correctly, by Pierre Ouimette, who was a founding member of our local Vintage European Automobile Enthusiasts club. My first Editors job was on that club magazine many years ago.

Bob, an aside to you: Bob Marshall (another founding member of the VEAE) has moved to Hudson and we're getting together this weekend

You and I need to talk. 50 years of story is a lot of pages!

That's great news about Bob. His Dad took Bob and me to one of the first Montreal GP's back in the late 70's. We must all get together.

Sorry, forgot to add title to the photo snapped by The Westmount Examiner in the Spring of 1983

Bob, I well remember that Westmount Examiner photo and have a copy somewhere. It's a charming photo!

Here's another one of AVM in competition, albeit much more informal.

The event is the VEAE Gymkana held at the Hewitt factory parking lot, circa mid-70's. AGX-857, my 1933 Sports, is giving AVM a battery boost as Bob supervises. Steve Andrews (back to camera) and my girlfriend of the time, Jane look on. I'm seated in the Sports and I was probably @17 at the time. I still have the car...I still have the hat too!

Another mutual friend that Bob and I knew in the VEAE was Ed Richardson. A true bon-vivant and RAF Spitfire pilot, Ed, or 'Tasio Ricardo' to his friends, was never short of attractive young women on his arm. He drove a '31 MG D-Type and often diced with me in the '33 Sports at our sporting events. My Nine and his D were pretty evenly matched and it was always a lot of fun.

Ed had a real fondness for my car and with good reason. Back in the early '30's he owned an identical model, UG-5176!
I was able to copy his photo album and this shot shows his 1933 Singer Nine Sports at Brooklands. It had some go-faster goodies on it including the spot lamps and twin spare wheels...and a lot of badges!

Ed went on to buy a C-Type Jaguar, which he drove with great verve!

A happy teenager and his first pre-war Singer and around the time Bob and I first met...
We look sooo young! lol!

I guess this now qualifies as a 'vintage photograph!'
