To all. Following further research on my 1952 4 AD roadster, Tony @ ASCO informed me that the original finishes are: the color of the car to be Silver Gunmetal with a beige interior and top. Does anyone know the source of the paint and the original vinyl and canvas. I've only seen 1 Singer (photo) of a gunmetal color. It was a late 30's Singer. Any help would be appreciated. The original top would have been a kind of tan "tweed" effect with some of the primary car colour woven in. I have samples I could scan.

The interior would have either been leathercloth, or leathercloth with leather seat facings. Singer always did door panels and trim in leathercloth regardless. Leather was only used on the seat facings. Leathercoth was really an evolution of the old Rexine. Expanded vinyl came in later.

Carpet is a low nap 'hogs back' cut pile, not a loop pile. Again, I can scan an orginal sample.

Fender welting (piping) was painted body colour and originally also a leathercloth wrapped around a twisted cord.

This info is taken from an extremely original 4AD-T that I owned, as well as an unrestored A series.

Thank you very much for your response. I'd greatly appreciate any/all info that you can provide; as much as possible. I've been told, heretofore, that the interior was vinyl. While most of the cars that I see seem to be a leather(type) material. Where do you source the original materials? Do you know who manufactured the original paint for the 4 AD's?
