I found this photo of a 1934 Le Mans in "High Speed Diary" - the autobiography of Reggie Tongue a pre war racing driver. I didn't know he had any contact with Singers. This car was bought new by him and the photos were taken soon after purchase. This is as good as I can get the scan as the original is quite small
keep up the good work

What a great shot! Very useful for determining original details on the '34 type LM. Note the Lucas ST-38 'Porkpie' tail lamp with horizontal ribs to the glass lense...and...of course...that 'Singer' decal on the wing.

Also note the original 3 1/2" style pre-war license plate lettering: Alloy numbers riveted to a steel plate. Around this time they may also have been painted numbers or a cast alloy plate.
One super-rare detail usually missing off restored 33/34 LM's is the dash lamp mounted on a brass base at the center of the scuttle humps. You can just make it out behind the rim of the steering wheel. Most now mount both lamps on the dash, as on later cars.
Cool!

Just came across another decal on a prewar Singer, though the car is shown in more modern days and has been restored.
It's in this youtube video, with a voice over in Italian. The Singer decal is clearly visible on the NS sheet metal (gas tank?), just to the left of the twin spares, visible between 1:08-1:12 in the video.

Will someone with greater experience than I address the originality of this decal for the 1.5 L cars?
Thanks very much,
David

Danish wrote:Yes. I remember seeing Stan Pearson's beautiful and unrestored red LM at a 1980s SND. The only time I have every seen an original Singer badge decal on the rear wing. On the subject of badges, when was the last time you saw one of these? Ignore the screw, but these badges were fitted to some LMs to plug the hole in the starting handle bracket. When I have some time I plan to have a small production run cast if anyone is interested.
What is the size of the badge?

Virtually the same size as the radiator badge.

Yep...I'd agree...pretty much the same size as the rad badge.
I mocked up one to test since I bought the water transfer paper and figured I'd give both the Lockheed decal and Singer decal a go after Beaulieu and Stowe are done with.

Found yesterday at Sydney All Britich Day - Singer badge stickker with Chrome/paper background, the badge can be cut out of chrome backing and should be perfect for rear guard. It is the same size as Radiator badge. AUD5 - local supplier details included. How waterproof is yet to be determined, but badge is on foil, only paper is backing that peels away.

Already looked at the website D'Arcy and thanks for the heads up on the stickers. You'd already provided the clue in the photo!
I'm still going to test the water transfer method...will let you all know!

Hi, re the badge above, there may still be an opportnity to get this made here via the Club. What I need is rough idea of size from any one that has one, background colour, thickness. Was the spring clip on the rear soldered/brazed to the back.
