Can anyone assist me with sources for external oil filter for a 1949 Singer 4A, or ways to clean refurbish and existing filter. Open to upgrade advice options.

Thanks in advance
Scott

Found this on http://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk, a nice looking replacement for the original.

Paul,

Thank you very much. That looks like a great option.

You have renewed my faith in this forum as a resource. Sorry to say this is the first response I have received to a post, period. Not that I have posted that much.

Now I will be back.

Thanks again
Scott

Hey Scott,

Rest assured we will be here to help as required! No Singerite is ever alone, so don't be afraid to post...lol!

Paul and I have dealt quite a bit with Paul Beck over the years - both in person at Beaulieu and on-line. He is a good, reliable, resource for parts. This conversion was designed for the small sidevalve Fords (E93A, etc) but is the same design as the Fram ZR1 used on all Singer Roadster 1074cc OHC engines. That means A Series, 4A, and 4AB. It will NOT fit the 1500cc 4AD engine, which is a replacable element inside a canister bolted to the side of the engine block.

Let us know how it fits and functions if you buy one!

Cheers,
Phillip
