Singer 9 Container find

Morning all,

Some assistance is sort.

I am new, and have the task of sorting a Shipping Container find of a Singer 9.

I am in Adelaide, Australia, so a long way from most of you.

A rather elderly gent that I know via the Jaguar fraternity has asked my help.

He has remembered (sad but fact) that he has a 40ft shipping container in a country town some 2 hours from me. It has not been opened in 15 years.

I ventured to said container a few day ago, and opened it. Inside is 100% DRY, NO spiders, or any other surprises of animal kind.

FULL of car stuff, mainly Rover. Triumph. LandRover. MG. amd a Singer 9 chassis with engine, transmisssion, diff. suspension, and thats about all. It is a 3 speed transmission, so I gather from "Google" an early car. It has 3 steel wheels fitted, the 4th, gone. It has hydraulic front brakes, and mechanical rear brakes. There is a intact Front Windsrenn, with what looks like excellant chrome, but no wiper motor/s.

I am trying to locate the chassis number, and engine number, but so far no luck. Any advice as to where these numbers can be found would be greatly appreciated.

Also in this container is a NEW Fibreglass moulded rear section for the same car, unpainted.

I am returning to the container in 3 days time to take more photos, as the ones I took really are rubbish, so new camera, and lots of hope. Age is not on my side either, and the eyes are struggling sometimes.

He does NOT want to restore it, he is tidying up all his loose ends before things get too far out of hand.

I believe the engine/chassis number would be very handy for a prospective "owner".

Parting the Singer is also on the agenda if demand is in that direction.

Apologies for the length of my first post here, but I reckon that proper information is rewarded.

Thanks again in advance

Hi Everyone .. I have purchased the above Singer found in a container .. and I am also trying to identify the Singer .. the engine number is A9018 .. it appears to be a Post War Singer 9, but as to date I am unable to find the chassis number ..if anyone has the same and could advise where to look It would be appreciated ..I have looked in the obvious places, where a 4AD is on the chassis behind the front wheel, on top of the chassis near spring hangers, but no luck.
Regards
Stephen

Don't think its in the same place for the 9/4A's but on the 4AD its on the side of the frame. Pics are here http://singercars.com/car_numbers/4adserial.html

Hi Everyone .. Thanks to Ashley of the Singer Owners Club in the UK I now have the chassis number details .. and for all other interested parties, the chassis number on the early 9.s is on the side of the chassis above the front spring hanger...

Hey Stephen...

Dagnabbit! The ever-efficient Ashley beat me to it! Yes, that is where it is on the A/4A chassis with beam front axles!

If it's got a three-speeder, it would be a 1946 to 1949 A series.

Have you still got that cool Senior/10/26 chassis & running gear? I fancied that myself! lol!
