Vacation !

Post by mikeyr »

So I am taking a vacation...the kind of vacation I like to take once in a while. Wife and I are going camping and the kind of camping we like is...if we have a cell phone signal that means we are too close to civilization. That means next week this forum is on auto-pilot. New registrations will have to wait until I return to be approved. And if you people don't play nice, well never mind, you have always played nice.

Have fun ! I know I will, truck is pretty much ready to go, just have to do some work on the front winch tomorrow and off we go. Hopefully we won't get stuck some 20-30 miles off road and I will be back on Saturday to see what you guys have been up to. I want to see lots of new pics of Singer work and I will be starting on my LM when I get back so I will post pics.

Sounds more like you've been seeding the forum with your own bogus user IDs. Admit it Mike.

Don't need to do that, we have so many bogus ID's already. probably close to half the registered users have never posted anything. I only had one new user while I was gone...well, actually had more but only one that I can say is not a spammer so I only activated one.

Good thing I took plenty of meat with me camping, didn't catch a single fish in 3 days of fishing. I did get a wonderful email during the week that I didn't see until I got back to civilization...the Le Mans body was picked up from the builder.

Good news. Do you have an ETA. Probably about two months.

actually ETA is 4-6 months due to Covid messing up the shipping times. Right now the wait list for a boat anchored offshore at Los Angeles harbor or San Pedro harbor is 6 weeks for it to come into port and unload and its about the same to get something on a boat. So that is 3 months right there just to get on and off a boat.

Air shipping is 3-5 days :) plus a few days for customs. The shipping by sea quote a little more than doubled from last October when I got an estimate, so its gone up a lot in 6 months. Air shipping only went up a little bit but not much, so for a $1,300 US dollar difference you will never guess what I chose :) in the original quote there was a $4,000 difference between air and sea but sea is much higher right now.

Right now the body is still in the UK at the shippers waiting for a crate to be built, hopefully this week.
