Under bonnet colours?

Post by mister bridger »

Trying to put lockdown idleness to good use by tidying up under the bonnet of my 47 9A. Like so much else on the car it's been very crudely brush painted with whatever Dulux one of the previous owners had to hand, in this case a pale grey. What colour SHOULD the bulkhead panels and the engine itself be? Google images show many in black, others body colour. TIA

Hi Peter,

The bulkhead and tool deck were black. The engine and gearbox was a sort of orange-brown primer colour.

Check out Paul Bouchard's Nine engine rebuild blog for more details:

Hope that helps!

That's great thanks, and tallies with the concensus over on the Facebook group. I also have black gloss and red oxide in the garage so looks like I'm good to go!
