Hello all,
I need to overhaul the brake cylinders, but the brakedrum does not seem to be a separate part?
Does everything have to come off – castlenut, roller bearing, etc?
If so, what would be a suitable torque for the castlenut upon refitting?

Hi Steve,
You do not need to take off the hub!
Just undo the four nuts and the drum will pull off by hand. If it is tight, there are two threaded holes in the drum ( I see one at the top of hub between the two large nuts ) which you can thread a bolt into and it will push the drum off.
The two countersunk holes in the drum should have short countersunk slotted screws in them. They go into threaded holes in the hub to hold the drum in place. a bit redundant really as the four large nuts do the same!
This design applies to the front and rear brakes of the Nines from late '32 to mid-ish '35. On later cars with wire wheels, the rear axles splined hubs were held on by those four large nuts ( but of a shallower profile) and that had to be removed before the drum can come off.
