I have finally found a supplier of reasonably authentic turnbuckles with the correct semi-circular profile to the finger grip. They come in two varieties (see below) - 'A' nickel plated, with a thin finger grip and 'B' chromium plated, with a thicker finger grip. Type 'A' is the closest to the original (see photo for comparison).
The supplier is Namrick Ltd, in East Sussex, UK. I have found them to be very helpful if somewhat overwhelmed by Covid 19. The originally supplied me with a mixture of the two varieties but quickly rectified this FOC when I contacted them. They also keep useful stocks of imperial fasteners including dome and wing nuts.

Re: Turnbuckles
Looked on the website, but they don't seem to make a distinction between "A" and "B".
Did you ask specifically for the type you ordered?
Cheers!

Re: Turnbuckles
I ordered from their online catalogue and they sent me a mixture of the two types. They quickly rectified this. Maybe best to email them first (enquiries@namrick.co.uk) and attach a copy of my photo specifying type A. They are helpful but may take a while to reply, as they are short staffed due to the dreaded Covid.
Re: Turnbuckles
Thanks David,
Sounds like a plan!
I'll follow up with them...
