Singer Junior Project
Re: Singer Junior Project
Front damper connections: the lower one is part of the lower spring plate. My spare parts book is only for '29 and '30 models and lists Newton hydraulic shock absorbers front and rear.
The 1928 handbook I have only mentions semi-elliptic front and quarter-elliptic rear springs with no mention of dampers, while my 1929 handbook states 'semi-elliptic springs and hydraulic absorbers are fitted at both front and rear'. So does one assume that pre-1929 models didn't have dampers at all? I don't remember seeing any fittings on my friend's 1927 Junior.

That's fine David; if I come across another one in my pile of bits I'll let you know. I don't have a manifold though ...and that's for sure

Re: Singer Junior Project
Yes David I did those fitted to my light six. I think I posted some details on that thread (page 4) but they are pretty straightforward.

Hi
What should the height of the seat base be from the floor?

Re: Singer Junior Project
I'll double check in the morning David but I think the seats just sit on the floor and are held in place by a single wing nut through the front into a threaded plate screwed to the floor. This has series of locating holes to allow the seat to be adjusted in an agricultural kind of way! I have attached a picture of my seat base during reconstruction showing the hole, and a second showing the plates in the floor.

Thanks Colin
You are as helpful as always Mine is a three door and the seat backs are both onto bulkheads, with the bases missing.

Re: Singer Junior Project
I don't know if this helps David but here are a couple of pictures of my rear seats in progress. The seat back is supported by a moving panel behind which you can stow the side screens. This has a small shelf on the top to cover the gap between the seat and the rear body. Underneath the rear seats is a panel making a small tool space with cut outs for the tops of the dampers. You can also remove this to top up the rear diff.

Hi
I was told Hardwick's have copies of the plate for the serial number that mounts on the firewall. Has anyone got a link?
I'm also chasing the Fibre drive for the Cam shaft and a head gasket for the 848cc singer junior 1930.

I am also missing the plate that has the serial number and was also told Hardwicks had a supply of blanks at one stage so also interested.

Dick Preston (SOC) did have some fibre timing wheels made a while ago. It would be worth a try

hope you find one. My father had a struggle to find a second hand one for his 1930 Junior in 1946!!
