33-34 Front seat upholstery

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

Here's a shot of the seat hardware used on the 'straight framed cars for reference:

I'll post a photo of the steel floor pans that the cushions go into when I can get a chance.

Makes sense that the double-drop frame would allow a deeper seat cushion and a more traditional seat design. Judging from what I have seen in the various pre and post-war Singers I've owned, the front seat design remained roughly the same except the Dunlopillow was replaced by a metal and coil spring base in the Roadsters. I have no idea what the bladder vs foam costs were, but looking at the old bladders I've seen I'm guessing there was a lot of manual labour in making them up!

Thanks everyone, I was originally going to use slides but it is not to late to go back to the original design. Restoration is never straight forward, especially when you don’t have all the original bits!

Hey Darcy,

Took a while to get time to dig though the 'Unbtainium Vault', but here's a shot of a very original pair of front seat pans for the '33 / '34 4 seater Sports. Standard factory body, of course.

The left one is upside-down to show the bottom, There is still a good trace of the original paint finish on them, a high gloss black enamel. No primer was used though.

Corona virus isolation - completed first back seat upholstery, or at least the front, next the back of the seat in carpet before I get too far ahead of myself. I have already made a template for base but I think I will tackle front two backs first.

I should be bleeding breaks etc getting ready to start but cross threads mean I am waiting on new part.
