Le Mans radiator fixing

I'm about to do a test fitting of the radiator assembly (block and shell) to the chassis to check the bonnet line up etc.on my 1934 Le Mans 9 before plating the shell. Should there be a spacer of some sort (rubber or otherwise) between the shell and the chassis cross member, and if so, what thickness should it be?

Can anyone recommend an electroplating firm in the south or midlands of England (or even in Spain) who could do a good job on the shell including the repair/filling of a few minor belemishes? Unfortunately my regular tame plater doesn't have the capacity for the radiator.

There should be a rubber washer/bumper. Mine is about 1/2" thick, I believe, but check the clearance between the top of the fan blades and the bottom of the radiator header tank and you will see what you need.

They repaired and plated my Junior surround giving it a thick copper coat to fill blemishes before the final nickel coat. You do have to wait as they are very popular but as I know from the surround Dick Preston repaired very competently for my Light Six, poor plating can really let a job down.

When I dismantled mine it had a pair of old rubber shoe heels, size 11! That is about 1/2 inch which is what I have replaced, with solid rubber, but shoe heels would still do the job. I had the bar in place and then tried to align the front of the bonnet with the radiator shell, I imagine every car is slightly different.

Per Darcy's post, you might just look for a pair of ladies shoes, size 11. I would go for Ferragamo, but you may have other fashion preferences...

These are actually used for the same purpose, namely support of a radiator, and appear to be the right height. If you can stand to use something from a Jaguar on your Singer, then you should be all set.
