Another Motoring Season Winding Down...
Spent a happy hour giving her some love and a polish after. November will see her back into the garage until next season.
How are you all enjoying your pre-war Singer before the season winds up?

Re: Another Motoring Season Winding Down...
Had a great run out today - the week end was very wet. Sunshine today but chilly round the ears as no hood or side screens yet. I'm trying to get as many miles on the clock before winter really sets in. That way any snags should show up before next year
On the advice of a fellow owner, I've put 140sae in the gear box as opposed to 90sae. The change is much smoother and definitely easier; even managed a clean change from second to first! First gear is also much quieter and has lost much of its harshness.
Still working on the best temperature setting for the fan but seems happy at 175*F.
Tracking needs a bit of adjustment too, as there's feathering on the tyres ...too much toe in? I'll be annoyed if it spoils its straight line running!!
Oil pressure is more stable now that I've fitted a reducer to the cam feed - and there is still STACKS of oil up there!! The rebuilt pump was obviously a success.
That's about it for now

Re: Another Motoring Season Winding Down...
Winding up for me, after 9 years off the road we have just booked into 'Race the Waves (a sand racing weekend akin to Pendine Sands on Bridlington beach) scheduled for May 2020. https://www.backfirepromotions.com/race-the-waves-2020
New/old stock carbs fitted and new bearings fitted to the gearbox...just need to rebuilt the starter, dynamo and distributor and fit rebuild kits to the brake system. Having a target certainly puts the wind in your sales.

Oh, this IS a merry prospect!
What a delight, David, to think you've found a fulcrum to bring your Special back on the road, even if it's shifting sand...
Hope every bit of it goes smoothly.
Please keep us posted.
Kindest Regards,
David
