Thanks for the add
Thanks for the add
Hello all. So I had never heard of a Singer until a couple of weeks ago when I seen an add for one for sale. Or I should say what was left of one. It is in really rough shape but being retired I was looking for a project and for the price I couldn't pass it up. It will be heavily modified just to get her back in running condition. My plan at this point is to utilize the chassis and body and pretty much replace everything else. This will be my first car "build" and will be on a fairly tight budget but I do have a S10 donor V6 for the power train and hopefully the suspension. As I said I am a complete amateur at this but going to have a go at it . Comments or suggestions appreciated.

Re: Thanks for the add
looks like fun. That serial number is nothing I have ever seen or heard of though.

LOL! Agreed!
Unless the DMV is using the radiator tag as a serial number!
This looks like quite a project!

That number was on the radiator. I didn't know if it held and significance. The number I found on the chassis is L4AD1424 V.

Hey David,
That's perfect! A bit hard to read, as they can sometimes be...
That would make it a 1952 Singer 4AD Roadster - LHD - and most likely a single carb engine.
Hope that helps!
This number (the "car number") would also be stamped on a large brass plate screwed onto the tool deck under the hood. You should also be able to find an oval plate stamped with the body number.
The factory record cards for these cars still exist and copies of this information can be obtained through the Singer Owners Club in the UK.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info. No other number tags were with the car and yes it is a single carb.

Hey David,
If the original engine and transmission.are there and you don't plan to use them, let us know. Any Singer parts would be helpful to other owners who are restoring their cars.
Look forward to seeing how your project comes together...
