Wire Wheel Refurbishment
Wire Wheel Refurbishment
Does anyone have experience of professional wire wheel refurbishers in the UK? The wheels on the Light Six are corroded and although the spokes all ring true when tapped I think its prudent to have them professionally restored and re-spoked where necessary. There are several restorers who advertise on the net and in the Automobile magazine but a personal recommendation (or warning) is always very helpful.

I did the obvious thing and took my Singer's six wheels to Motor Wheel Services near Slough. Obvious because MWS is very well known and has been around for many years. Two wheels were rebuildable, the other four were beyond hope and were replaced. The workmanship was excellent but they were not cheap.

Thanks John.

They are one of the best and I believe they list the 450x18 outside lace wire wheel for the Nine as 'stock' item, although I am sure they probably build them up to order.

I have used them for both my pre war cars. Superb service and a great product.

Re: Wire Wheel Refurbishment
I had mine done at Rugby Classic Motor Garage a couple of years ago. They made a good job of it and I think they were quite a bit cheaper than MWS. http://www.rugbyclassics.com/
The hubs were chromed by someone else, though.

Thanks Martin - I have family in Rugby so I'll drop in at the garage next time I'm there.
