BRITISH INVASION 2017 OFFICIAL THREAD...ARE YOU GOING? CHECK IN HERE!

Post by Phillip »

There has been quite a bit of buzz about the 2017 British Invasion and one of the rumours going around is that this year will be the last invasion!

We've been in touch with Mike Gaetano, who is very much a supporter of The Men in White and our Singer displays and this is his response:

"...I suspect that people have confused the British Invasion with the VAE show that was held at Nichols Field and has been in Stowe for the past 30+ years. Nichols Field was sold and I understand that this year will be the last year that the VAE will hold their show on Nichols Field and that in 2018 they will be moving to Waterbury, VT. I had heard earlier that the British Invasion was moving to Waitsville, VT. I suspect that too was the result of someone hearing that the "Car Show" in "Stowe" was moving and they confused the shows and then again confused "Waitsfield" with "Waterbury"..."

So...no worries, folks..the Invasion continues!

When we talked to Mike he also mentioned that we would be very happy with the registration package this year. Well, he was true to his word when it arrived:

SINGER IS A FEATURED MARQUE ALONG WITH TRIUMPH AND MG! ( BUT Singer is on the cover!)

Be sure to download your registration package at the British Invasion site: http://britishinvasion.com/register.html

Mike also wanted us to be aware of a few housekeeping rules this year:

Show Field Registration for entry in the British Classic (People Choice) or the Car Corral will be held on Friday, September 15th between 12:00 Noon and 6:00 PM. There will be NO Saturday Registration in order to fairly accommodate all registered participants.

The Practice of allowing Cars to Register on Friday and then Park with other like cars in class has created a significant problem for those who are tasked with Field Layout on Friday afternoon and also for our preprinted Ballot Books and our Awards Program. We encourage you to Pre-Register.

Please note NEW this year Friday Registrants for the British Classic will park as a group on Saturday Morning in a Special Class for Friday Registrants and NOT with any of the defined pre-registration classes.

We will likely NOT accept Canadian currency at General Admission this year.

Next up...our schedule for 2017....

Cheers,
Phillip

Singer Sensation in Stowe 2017

We're still working on details of our theme this year, but will let you know as it comes together. We may be joined by members of the MG Car Club for dinner and possibly a linked theme display.

Tentative plans are as follows:

Schedule:

Friday, September 15th: BALLAM RALLY

David Kellogg has very kindly offered to take up the mantle of the Ballam Rally, so please contact us if you plan to enjoy the pleasure of driving in a convoy of Singer cars along with like-minded enthusiasts. A thrill not to be missed and always a lot of fun.

The rally usually ends at the show field for registration. Those who are arriving on Friday afternoon and not on the rally will meet on the show field for registration and nibbles, then probably head down to the street fair.

Saturday Sept 16th: THE SINGER SENSATION AT STOWE!

We'll see you on the show field for the main event. as long as numbers permit, we will hold our dinner at the Golden Eagle Colonial Cafe. We need a minimum of 25 people booked to do this. If not, we will be in the Golden Eagle Conference Room.

Sunday Sept 17th: MORE GREAT EVENTS!

We meet again on the show field and hope that one of our group will enter the Tailgate Picnic. There had been some discussions about a 'Where's Waldo' theme in the past...anyone interested in creating a Singer group theme picnic?

NASOC alumni will be in attendance this year and we will be pleased to see jan Eyerman, our Gazelle Registrar, on the field for 2017!

That's the news for now...

Latest news:

Our display theme is "British Pickers" with Paul's Super Ten amongst the junk in an old shack.

Dinner will be in the Golden Eagle Resort Conference Room. Pizza orders to be taken on the field on Saturday during the show.

More news to follow...

If you have told us you are coming, you will receive more details...

Look forward to seeing some new cars on the field this year and some new faces as well!

Here are the final details for the event this year:

Schedule:

Friday, September 15th: BALLAM RALLY

David Kellogg has very kindly offered to take up the mantle of the Ballam Rally, so please contact him at babadawv(at)gmail.com if you plan to attend. Start time is the Golden Eagle Parking lot at 11:00am.

it's your chance to enjoy the pleasure of driving in a convoy of Singer cars along with like-minded enthusiasts. A thrill not to be missed and always a lot of fun. That said, you can come along in any car just to join the fun.

Refer to details on times, etc, at britishinvasion.com. Generally we like to line the cars up by 9:30am.

Our display theme is "British Pickers" with Paul's Super Ten in a shed full of old junk...but, then, one man's junk is another man's gold!

We will hold our dinner at the Golden Eagle Conference Room at the Golden Eagle Resort. The Colonial Cafe is no longer available as the new owners of the resort have changed their policies. This means our more laid back pizza night, so we will pass around menus from 'Piecasso' during the day on the show field for people to make their selections to order. Plan to arrive for 7:30pm for dinner.

Sunday Sept 17th: MORE GREAT EVENTS!

We meet again on the show field and hope that one of our group will enter the Tailgate Picnic, or perhaps some will enter the Competition of Colours. Singers have won in both in previous years.

NASOC alumni will be in attendance this year and we will be pleased to see Jan Eyerman, our Gazelle Registrar, on the field as well as some new faces and cars.

Look forward to seeing you all there!
