These are a few promo shots that I got as part of a lot of literature from Vaughan Singer Motors in California. Shows them "as they were" in '53 with all available colours except Black.

Re: Promo shots
Great photos, Peter. I particualrly like the bronze/platinum car with the tan interior. That's a very attractive combination, if you ask me.

Re: Promo shots
It's actually silver Dave. The photos are originals, in excellent condition, but they would be Kodachromes from the Fifties that didn't necessarily show true colours. They were also taken in bright California sunlight.

Ah, yes of course it's silver. I wouldn't have thought that a tan interior would work so well with silver, but it looks good.

Re: Promo shots
Sorry, I knew it was D'Arcy, but there is that other D Green. Yes the Tan colour seems to go well with all the combinations. Here's a mystery for you. I'd love to isolate where the shots were taken. There is a landmark spire on the near horizon. I initially thought it was the Fox theatre but it is slightly different.

Re: Promo shots
The photo of the coronation blue car is taken at the same place as the photos of the car with the hardtop that you posted some time ago. It looks to me it might even be the same car.

Re: Promo shots
Quite possibly. I wonder if they were taken at Gretske's house?

Re: Promo shots
Hi,
Great photos, thanks for sharing them Peter!
The photos show good amount of details, and higher angle view show details that are not visible on most of the period Singer photos I have seen.
Couple of odd things in the photos
- Two of the cars have quite odd high bumper over-riders. I do not remember seeing such in other pictures, usually they are about half the height as on these photos.
- The car with the hardtop has a twisted rear bumper, which is a bit odd if it is a promo shot. One would assume they would have straightened the bumper for the photos.
Best Regards,
Pekka

Re: Promo shots
Kabu,
The high rider bumpers seemed to be something that was available in the U.S., primarily through Vaughan Singer Motors of California, who I suspect in turn got then from a company called MG Mitten.
The promo shots were two different sets. One showed the line up for '53 featuring all new cars. The second series showed a 4AD sporting a Glasspar Fibreglass hard top. As the feature was the hard top, I'm assuming they fit it to a previously owned car and hadn't paid too much attention to the detail of a twisted bumper.
