I'm curious. What are the current numbers for known Singers in North America?

Mark,

Thanks for the inquiry.
My records show the following
39 prewar
62 4A & Nine
160 4AD
18 Gazelles
These are all the records I have compiled on members, past members, ebay for sale cars, etc.
I always welcome more input as there has to be more Singers out there than I have listed,

Singer owners. I am the Treasurer , 4AD registrar and keeper of Singer auto numbers for NASOC. I am compiling a list of all Singer vehicles still in existence. I would like all who own a Singer (s) to contact me with information on their car (s). I will keep personal information confidential if requested. I thank you for your time in this endeavor. I have currently 300 cars in the database.

My Singer is a 4A Roadster exported new to the USA in 1949/50 and imported back to the UK in 2010. Serial No. 4A 4533T and body no. 4A 3907T it was owned for a considerable time by Howard G. Singer.
I'm about midway through getting the car on the road but as far as restoration is concerned, I've barely scratched the surface.

Hello all,

My wife and I are the proud new owners of a 1939 Singer Super 12 Saloon De Luxe. Classic cars is a new thing for us, but we've been on the 1940s living history scene for a long time. May I introduce to you our 'Bertie':

I am in the process of restoring car sr. no. L4AD1675, body no. L4AD1481. I bought the car from Tilak Gurusinghe in 2011 and am in the process of a complete frame off restoration. The car was originally a New York car, partially dissembled with parts missing, and had a lot of poorly done custom body work.=, including exterior mount spare tire. I have the car is totally disassembled, the frame sandblasted, Por 15'd and painted. About 95% of the wood frame parts have been woodworked from American Ash and are ready for reassembly when I complete installing the engine, drive train and wiring. The car came sans engine. I picked up a Morris (by serial no.) 1800 cc engine with a 5 speed conversion kit that I have had rebuilt and will use it until I can find a suitable 1500 cc engine. Am doing body work while searching for parts. With other restoration projects and parts searching I am probably 2 years from completion.

My '53 Singer 4ad has been with me for 50 years and is the first car I owned. I bought it in the summer of 1965, just before my senior year of high school. I still remember picking it up at Twin Lakes, Ohio, just 15 miles from my boyhood home. The battery was weak but no problem, we just popped the clutch as it rolled down the hill from the barn it had been stored in. I drove it to school everyday rain or shine, even though the carpets and tranny cover were long gone, making an interesting view looking down through the wooden floorboards. I left it with my parents as I went out of state to college and overseas for four years of military service. Upon returning from overseas, my wife and I settled in her home town of Fort Wayne, Indiana and we transported it via trailer as my younger brother had dismantled it in anticipation of a complete restoration. It has waited the last 30 years in my garage here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Now that the family has grown up and I'm retired, it's on my bucket list to restore even though I know the needed parts are much harder to find.

Actually, with the internet, parts are probably easier to find. Lots of help available here!

Hey 'Lutter'

Lovely car! And I suspect a nice story to go with it. Would you be interested in writing an article for NASOC NEWS, along with supplying a few photos of you and the car down through the years?

I am Editor of THE NEWS and can be reached via phillip(dot)avis(at)sympatico(dot)ca

Cheers,
