DED Jr, founder of Automobile Magazine and longtime Editor of Car and Driver, died at 80 this past March.
The July 2011 issue of Automobile- now on your newsstand - has his last extensive interview. In the early 1950s, David sold VWs, Porsches, Triumphs, MGs, Jaguars and Singers.
On page 101, describing his time in California beginning in 1955:
"Singers were actually better cars, but I always raced MGs."
David was a mentor early in my career, and I worked at for him at Automobile as an advertising salesman from 1990-93.
Rest in peace, David E. And thanks for the Singer plug. As usual, the MG guys will be all ticked off.
