34 LM rear fender

Ok, my car did not have rear fenders to speak of, they had been butchered and cut up to simulate cycle wings and I am putting on new rear wings from Dave Hardwick. How far do they hang down from the body ? I matched up as best as I could the remnants of the old fenders/wings with the body and it appears that on my car the lower front lip of the fender hung down below the body about 1" inch. I have scanned through my hundreds of pictures and can find evidence to indicate the fender hangs below the body and also that it does not. I do not have a single GOOD picture to show either way and by the time I enlarge the pic, its no longer clear enough.

I have this drawing which clearly shows the fender flush with the body and not hanging down, yet all the physical evidence on my car is that it hung down some (about 1 ") so which is it ? I highlighted the area in red to hopefully better show what I am asking about.

All the examples I have at hand are either even or slightly below (1/2"), although even at that, they appear to be even from a distance. Given they were handbuilt and fitted I'm sure you will find a subtle variety. Remember also that these were Trials cars and you wouldn't want anything like a fender to hang down too far and get ripped off by the terrain.

In addition to my own cars, here are a few other samples. Here’s one that is about as original as they get. Yes it is a Nine Sports, but same configuration as the Le Mans. This one is a 1 ½ litre Le Mans and the rear wing and rocker look pretty dead even. This is a Stefano-Parachi car, looking relatively untouched. Again, the wing is pretty much even with the rocker.

That looks pretty flush with the bottom of the body. So out of a dozen or so pics, I have only one that looks like its about 1" below the bottom, all others are flush.

It will be too late tonight after work Well I guess its never too late until I do final assembly but I am doing the lower sections of the wood tonight and they are almost done already so assembling that part tonight. Thanks for all the help.

have to wire the garage with internet. I did it already but used that connection for this server, I want in a internal net connection that comes back to the house before I put the cam on it.
