BMC Chassis

Post by Peter McKercher »

All you 4AD owners should recognize this beautifully prepared chassis, except for the large rad, twin pipes and quad carb set-up. This chassis was prepared by Vern Gardner, an Oakland California Singer Dealer and became the basis of the BMC Singer he raced at Moffet Field in 1953, as noted in a recent issue of my News and Views.

The carbs are Amal Cycle units which, according to Dan Nichols who photographed the car's debut, were a son of a gun to tune.

Not a Singer, but a Singer dealer's shop truck. This is Vern Gardner's truck, whick likely spent most of its time hauling Motorcycles, but it probably carried the odd Singer part as well. Interesting flavour of the times.
