Singer Motors manufacturers plate

Post by kabu »

Does anyone know if the brass manufacturing plate (the one on the tool deck with stamped numbers and lubrication info) is available as reproduction? The plate on my car has only the stampd info left, all the black print is gone.

If reproduction is not avaivalable I will try fabricating one myself, either by etching+painting or digital printing directly onto brass. But to be able to do that I would need a good photograph of the plate. Could someone send me photograph of the plate. If I manage to reproduce the plate I can of course deliver those also to someone else who would need one.

Kabu,

Here is a picture of a reproduced plate. This was a project of NASOC back in the 1980's. We have no source for these at the moment. If you need a better picture let me know and I will see if I can get it better.

Thank you Dave, this helps a lot. Of course a higher resolution picture would make things a bit easier and would make the scaling of texts and other details more accurate.

Pekka,

Here is a graphic that I made from my A Series Roadster... it should be similar, but check it first. I have the file stored on-line so follow the link below and download it.

Thank you Paul,

It looks like the older plate is different that those used in 4AD. The picture Dave Green posted seems to be the correct layout.

Yes, the 4AD one is different, here is what it should look like, 120kb for the larger version if you click on the picture, so it should be ok even for those on dialup.

Kabu,

I did not e-mail it, its huge at 109 megabytes and did not know if you could handle that large a e-mail attachment.

I have placed it here http://www.singercars.com/4ax/4AD-firewall_plate.tif you can "Save-as" and save it to your disk, warning everyone, its HUGE at 109 megs, it will take a long time to download.

Also at 1,200 dpi resolution it sure does not look as good as the smaller lower resolution one, there are some scratches in it and bubbles in the paint and even some dirt I did not clean up.
