First Run of the season 2022

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

First Run of the season 2022

Post by Peter McKercher »

First run of the season. Quite early for Ottawa. I don't usually get out until May.

Only running on two cylinders when I pulled her out. The needle on the back carb was stuck and no fuel in the float bowl. Just took 5 minutes to clean it up and reassemble.

Changed to NGK B6HS plugs. I think it is running better than with the Champions, but it's hard to tell. Either way it's running great. Nice to be back out. This is her 23rd season back on the road.

This posting is for Mikey as he feels the pre war section needs some love.

yes Facebook is taking over, this forum has been running over 20 years now in some form, I guess people are bored with it. I find it so much easier to search for something here than Facebook though so I always look here first and usually find my answer here. But everyone has Facebook on their phone and they use Facebook for personal/family/friends stuff so its easier to go there.

Oh and thank you, this section did need some loving :)

Not everyone, I stopped because of the Facebook (and Linkedin) "hunger", and see when you are not a user any-more, a lot is blocked.
As long a website like this is there, I can live with it.

I only recently found and signed up for the Facebook "forum" but I don't think Facebook is a suitable substitute for a forum and I'm surprised that the SOC has opted to go that route. When it comes to exchange of technical information, a forum such as this is the only way forward so long may it continue!

However, I am really surprised that there are not far more pre-war posts.

we are getting off-topic here, but I did offer to the UK club(s) their very own section at no cost for club information. I have paid all costs related to this forum since 1998 (the main website is even older than 1998) because I didn't want ads and its free to be here and anyone can join regardless of country/club/etc. I even removed all references on the forum to North American Singer Owners Club to try and make it more generic Singer in order to get more people here, but its not happened. The Aussies were going to come here when their forum failed due to too much porn and get rich quick spam, its a lot of work to keep that under control and they lost control. But after some talks, they never followed through. So Facebook is taking over but Thank YOU for the comments.

Well Mike, If you can't go a little (or a long way) off topic on your own forum - who can??

I've read what you say with great interest and can only say I am absolutely stunned! I signed up to the SOC FB group (with an alter ego!) with great reluctance because I actually loathe everything that Facebook represents!
