Super 10 or 12 ?

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

Super 10 or 12 ?

Post by Oz singer »

I bought this chassis who appears to be a Super 10 but a friend's saying that could be a 12 !
I know ( Google is your friend ! ) , that one of the differences is the track width . But what are the numbers ?? Cannot find them.
Any better experts than me here ? :D Thanks in advance.

Looks prer-war for sure and maybe not either a Super Ten or Super Twelve. I thought those had pressed steel wheels. Brakes and shocks look early Lockheed and Luvax respectively. Maybe a Singer Eleven?

Judging from the castings and design I'm going to guess @1936

It should be stamped on the side of that front spring hanger casting...

Yes 15183 is the number stamped on the frame. I cannot see any letters.

That number is in the series for a Super Nine, essentially a 4 door Bantam. The Eleven only had a 4 figure chassis number, however I am open to discussion if there is disagreement re this.

Well ? This could be something else too , I find horrendously hard to identify anything Singer !!

The parts I have like frame, elements of the body especially the front and back windows and rear doors who are longer match this picture.

Except the bonnet, mine lack the louvers. And the grill who appears different.

Then my grill match this one !

And my chassis is similar to the 10Hp, but longer and wider.

But to use as a special it will offer plenty of room and strong for a big motor.
So, at the moment this will go in the too hard basket . :? :?

The number can be a factory "fault", One of the 4A roadsters I bought, has a double number, a 3A with a 4 over the 3.
It was all handwork these years , and it is possible one of the people took a wrong tool to put the numbers in.
Try to find the axle numbers, they can tell also a bit.
