STOWE 2011 A SUCCESS & WE ARE THE FEATURED MARQUE IN 2012!!!

Post by Phillip »

Hey Singerites!

Just back from the British Invasion at Stowe, Vermont, where once again the Singers stole the show!

We had 7 cars and 25 people on Team NASOC, featuring 3 new Roadsters seen for the 1st time at Stowe: Rick Singer with the ex-Russ Natali 4AD, Bill Howerth with his 4AD and, last, but by no means least, the official unveiling of Patrick and Diane Desmond's 'White Lady' 4AD.

Attending were:

- Joe and Paula Tarta: 4AD
- John and Karen Lewis: 4AD
- Patrick and Diane Desmond and family: 4AD
- Rick and Judy Singer: 4AD
- Robert Moreau: Nine Roadster
- Peter and Lindsay McKercher: Nine Sports
- Bill Howerth: 4AD

Also attending without cars were:

- Russell and Connie Treen ( 4AD )
- Lori Seller ( 4AD ) and her cousin Caroline
- Kenlis and Ellen Pearce ( 4AD )
- Phillip Avis ( Le Mans )
- David Kellogg ( Nine Sports )
- Steve Andrews
- Joe and Ellie (?) with John Lewis

The weather proved sunny and the company delightful. The Men in White were the talk of the town and there is no doubt that the Singer marque and NASOC are fixtures at the Invasion. We even won a Participation Award even though our display and my car sat in my driveway all weekend thanks to blown brake lines!
Special mention must go to Bill Howerth for making the 30 hour round trip from Lowell, MI. It was a pleasure for us to host him after the amazing job he did for us at last year's Mad Dogs show!

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!!! We are the FIRST Marque to be honoured with a second chance to be the Featured Marque in 2012! It's the 22nd British Invasion and we want to aim for 22 cars!!!! LET"S PLAN NOW TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

Stay tuned for photos and look forward to a full report in the next NASOC NEWS!!!

While evidence of a very rainy season at Stowe abounded, conditions couldn’t have been better for the annual Singer trek. The weather was picture perfect, the company, as usual, was warm and friendly and the turnout of cars was exceptional.
One of the highlights this year was the unveiling of Patrick and Dee Desmond’s “Blue Car” which was actually resplendent in a crisp white. Patrick, Dee and Family have been faithful attendees at the NASOC meet for several years now, despite the fact that their car was not ready until now. How wonderful to see their efforts finally on display.

NASOC again collected the Club Participation Award, perhaps in anticipation of another unique display. However, I’m sure the presence of Men in White dispersed throughout the field was sufficient for the organizers to justify it. Nonetheless, Mike Gaetano did pull me aside to ask “Singers will have a display next year, won’t they?”

Marque awards this year were :

First Place – Peter McKercher - Nine Sports
Second Place - Robert Moreau – Nine Roadster
Third Place – John and Karen Lewis – 4AD
Competition of Colours – Peter McKercher – Nine Sports

Next year will be a big year for us and we agreed to a target of 20 participants at the NASOC dinner (Phil appears to have decided to bump that to 22). Certainly 20 is achievable and within that target, we have the ability to create both a pre war and a post war category. Its always nice to be able to compare apples with apples.

The push is on folks. If you are remotely considering bringing your car to Stowe, next year is the year. You won’t be disappointed.

Last but not least, many thanks to all that participated this year. Several came very long distances, several came without their Singers, many continue to show their loyalty to the marque by participating year after year and everyone comes for the great company and cameraderie.

Thank you Peter for adding more details to my thread on another exceptional Singer Sensation at Stowe.

As coorganiser and host of the NASOC portion of the event, I took the opportunity at our dinner to gauge interest and feedback for next year as a take-a-way for consideration at this point in time while we firm plans up. Nothing has to be set in stone as to a theme, an exact number of cars, or amount of assistance that will be required at this time. The expression of enthusiasm and support from our group for next year's event was certainly a great encouragement and I will feed back the information to our President, Paul, who, sadly, was not able to attend due to on-going contract negotiations at work.

It was most gracious of the British Invasion team to present us with the Club Participation Award again in spite of the fact that the display never reached Stowe and I believe it reflects recognition of the special relationship we enjoy with them. Just based on feedback from people at both the street fair in Stowe Village on Friday and at the show on Saturday, we realise the reputation that we have built up over the last ten years at this event, both as a Marque and as a club. It was very rewarding to hear how much our efforts are appreciated.

Both Chris Francis and Mike Gaetano were assured that, indeed, there will be a display for next year and we will notch it up to "11"!

Thanks to everyone who shared the weekend with us and let's look forward to a record turn-out next year!

As promised, here are a few shots from our NASOC Singer Sensation at Stowe.

As well as being one of the featured marques for 2012 at the British Invasion, we should look to gearing up for 2014. If memory serves, the club started in the summer of 1974 and, if so, NASOC will 40 years old!

I would love to attend the gathering next year in my V6AD, but I am back at school and it would be a very long drive from AZ. I think my boss would have a fit if I took that much time off. Well you never know what might happen.

Hey Dave,

Great to hear from you!

LOL! Given the reaction that your 4AD-V6 had at Woodley Park, I bet it would turn more than a few heads at the British Invasion next year! You could drag down Mountain Road with Bobbie's FrankenSinger.

Wonderful to think that you would consider coming all that way to support the cause!
