Holiday to the US from Down Under

Post by Stephen »

Hi Everyone .. first post .. I will be travelling from Australia to the US on August 10th to September 18th starting at Miami and travelling up the east coast To Montreal and then back down to Miami via Memphis and would like to take in a car Swap Meet and preferably see some Singers while we are over there. So if anyone could help out with some venues and dates it would be much appreciated .. Regards Stephen

will be kind of tight and probably not possible but the British Invasion in Stowe is the best place to see Singer's as its "our" East Coast show. Its Sept. 16-18 this year.

Other than that, wrong coast for me to be able to help.

Thanks Mike, and your right, a little to tight for our schedule, we have our annual Bay to Birdwood Classic less than a week after we get back, so will be sticking to the East Coast this year.. have a list of car museums that we will be visiting, but hoping to take in a swap meet while we are over there to look for some 4AD parts .. does anyone know of a good wrecking yard that still has "old" cars and parts on the East Coast ??? ..parts are near impossible to find here in Australia .. again wrong coast :) :) :)

There is a junk yard right here in my backyard full of 4AD scrap that I am throwing away on a regular basis, sorry no more frames and big heavy things they went to the metal scrap guy, still have lots more to go to him.

Ok, enough thread hijacking...back to your schedule of fun.

Hi Stephen,

You are most welcome to come and see us in Montreal. I have a fair collection of Singers for you to view and chat about.

There are a number of very nice B&B's and hotels in the area. Just Google Hudson, Quebec, and Lake of Two Mountains area.

You've just missed our British Car Show, but we will see what's on when you are due to come out this way.

Cheers,
Phillip

Hi Philip, My wife and I will be in Montreal probably about the 3rd week in August at this stage, we have no real agenda, so just depends on what we see and where and how long we stay at certain locations,.. but would love to catch up with you and check out the Singers when we arrive there ..I will email you when we are on our way from New York with a couple of days notice if that is OK with you ... Hi Stephen,

I should be around in the third week of August as it stands now. There is lots to see and do in Montreal as it has a very nice European flavour to it with a great nightlife and great restaurants too. I am @ 45 minutes west of the city and Paul Bouchard, our NASOC President, is about the same, slightly south of me.

Together we have '35 and '36 Le Mans, '48 and '50 Roadsters, '33 and '34 4 seater Sports, a '28 Senior saloon, a '47 Super Ten, plus the remains of a Bantam and another '48 Roadster.

If you like quaint villages, antique shops and flea markets, my area is idea for that. Just let us know if you have any particular interests and we will see what we can arrange for you.

We look forward to seeing you!

Cheers,
Phillip

Hi Philip Sounds like a very interesting collection of Singers,we look forward to seeing them, and we are interested in all of the above, we like old worldy villages, antiques and visiting flea markets, so it soundslike we will be in our element when we arrive ,. looking forward to the visit...We only have one singer at the moment, and that is a 1951 4AD roadster that is having a full restoration. I will bring a photo album of the resto. ...Regards Stephen

Hi Stephen,

It was wonderful to meet you and Vida today and have a chance to take you for a spin in the Le Mans. The time really did fly by. Nice to see the photos of your 4AD project too.

Glad you enjoyed your stay in Hudson and have a safe trip back down to Miami. We will certainly let you know when we plan that trip 'down under'!

Cheers,
Phillip
