Brits in the Park, Lindsay, Ontario, Canada

Post by Phillip »

This just in from Ellen and Kenlis Pearce.

Now, Kenlis is a tough guy and when he puts his mind to doing something, there's no veering him off-course. This is REALLY going above and beyond for the Marque!

Read on...

Last Sunday Kenlis planned to go to 'Brits in the Park' in Lindsay. He had another buddy lined up too. Unfortunately, Kenlis wasn’t feeling too well. He didn't really know what it was, so, having arranged and committed to go to Lindsay in the Singer he proceeded to do so. He had a little trouble just getting out of the driveway. The car stalled a couple of times. Apparently it did the same on the way there. A Good Samaritan stopped in what I believe was an old Hudson and asked if he could help. Thinking that just maybe they had run out of fuel (the fuel gauge wasn't working), the man drove off and returned with a jerry can of gas. Not much of it got in the tank and it was full. However, the Singer did start and so off they went. A few miles later the car stalled again. All three guys had a hard look under the hood, poking here and there. Then the Hudson guy suggested maybe a certain wire was too close to some metal part. Kenlis bent it away as far as he could. The car started and ran well all the way there and back. Hudson guy followed, just in case, and later even looked them up in the park! Great Guy!

So Kenlis and the Singer did get to the show and who do you think won Second Prize? You guessed it! Seconds after Kenlis got home the heavens opened up and it poured rain with thunder and lightning for hours.

Well, by Monday Kenlis was feeling worse, so he went to see his doctor -- who was on holiday -- so he was sent to the hospital in Midland -- driving himself. They kept him and did all sorts of tests in emergency.. Blood tests showed that he had had a mild heart attack! X-rays showed he had some blood vessel restrictions. So he was sent to ICU. Arrangements have been made to transfer him to Newmarket where they will do an angiogram, and, if needed, any repair work. Then he will be sent back and hence home with a few more pills to take. Now we are waiting for Newmarket to initiate when they have space (expected this week). Sooo we are waiting! Too bad they don't have computers in the ICU. He is very cheerful though and instead of the expected picture in white overalls holding Prize Plaque, we improvised You can only do so much in ICU! I'm sure he'll be in good form come September!

Cheers Ellen

Great to see some pictures in real time from at least one show this year. Kenlis is definitely one of our more enthusiastic members and always flies the flag high. Well done on your win and best wishes for a speedy recovery. Don't push it, but I look forward to seeing you at Lori's barbecue if you are well enough to attend.

Thanks to Kenlis' wife Ellen for passing on the news and photos. Nice to see another Singer win an award... but Kenlis: you could have left the award at home!!! Nah!

Just a measure of the man, he's got 30 weight flowin' through those veins.

Take care Kenlis my friend - you have a lot of people rooting for you!
