UK Singer National

Post by mikeyr »

Ok, I am confused here. When is the UK Singer National , I got my newsletter from the SOC early this year and it said that Singer (something, I am at work and I don't have it handy) was in June (5-6 I think), now yesterday I got my ASOC newsletter and it says the Singer National Rally is late July. I had planned on going to Singer National this year and I was extremely very disappointed when I found it was in June because of 3 things, 1. my wife can't go in June she works for the school district and no way would they let her have vacation time 2 weeks before school lets out for the year. 2. My daughter graduates from high school that weekend and 3. Calling my wife from a UK hotel and telling her I am having a wonderful time without her just does not sound like it would work when I also said during the call "happy 30th wedding anniversary", although in her defense she did say I could go as long as I returned with proper amounts of jewelry, my daughter really would be upset if I was not there.

So to make a long story longer... What is the Singer National Rally ? what is the Singer (something) event in June ? I had always heard of the UK Singer National and did not know there was a difference, I incorrectly assumed it was a weekend where both clubs got together and I could see pre-war cars. Late July makes it a expensive flight but my wife and I can go then.

What is the difference between the 2 events ?

I just want to see pre-war cars and lots of them !

Mike,

Here is some info from the SOC website.

The weekend is like a Stowe or a Mad Dogs... only just for Singers. The day is the actual "show" with cars on the field. I went a few years ago and was overwhelmed by the number and assortment of Singers... pre and post war. Singer owners from all over the world attend with a few from Australia and New Zealand being the furthest away. Rudi from Holland may even show. He was at the Centenary with his 1.5 and Commodore! The actual "day" it seems is on June 8th.

Bring a camera and LOTS of memory cards.

Paul
