My Project Vogue

This is my first post here, and I thought I'd take a minute and say hey!
My wife and I bought this 1963 Singer Vogue when we lived in the UK back in the late 1980's. At the time it registered low 42K miles and we are the second owners. After minor mechanical repairs (clutch and brakes) we drove it for a few years, including delivering papers in it! Since 1990 it has been sleeping peacefully in our garage. Well, I've finally set the goal to get it done! I've secured an excellent body man, and have begun to strip the car to the shell. So far all the glass has removed intact :D and there have been no big surprises!
I wanted to join this forum in hopes that there are some good contact points for the later Rootes cars, especially parts sources. Trim and rubber parts are gonna be a bit of a treasure hunt, I think
I'll try and get some pictures up as time goes on.

Mike,

Welcome. An interesting project. You might want to contact our NASOC Gazelle guru Jan Eyerman. His e-mail address is on the site. He knows is Rootes products and should be able to direct you to sources. :D

Mike,

Wow, nice car! The only Vogues that I have seen were in the UK. Sounds like a neat project.

Never saw one of these before. Looks like you might be able to modify some 1957 "Christine" Plymouth parts to fit the front end! If there is any truth to the legend, you could just set up a La-Z-Boy in the garage, and watch it fix itself...(I tried to insert a smiley here, but I'm too dumb to do it...Rocket Science, I guess! Maybe Brain Surgery. Whatever it is, as my father-in-law used to say, "Maybe I ain't got the potentiality!")

Thank you for the comments! It is a pretty cool car, and has a bunch of sentimental value - more than it's monetary value I'm sure

The Vogue was never imported into North America, and ours is the only one I've seen over here. I've heard of at least one other, but nothing more than a rumor so far.

Here's a picture of what it is supposed to look like - and a smiley just for John :D

WARNING Its a huge picture, so it will take a while to download unless you have a fast connection.

Mike (the other one, or both!)

The adverts page is choc-full of neat stuff. Most, I believe, Mike has collected over time to share with us.

Another source for Vogue parts in general is eBay. I have seen a few cars and parts on the UK site ( http://www.ebay.co.uk ) Shipping, as always, is the killer.

Good luck!

Paul
