How to make an eBay auction for one specific person and keep others from bidding? I'm trying to sell an item to a person, but we want to do it on eBay for protection and I need help on how to make the auction 'invisible' to other people. How would one go about in doing this?

You can't, that is the point of ebay its for everyone. You want a private auction, you just tell them to send you money privately.

Now what does this have to do with Singer's ? and why was a 6 year old thread resurrected for this ?

its not dying, just not that active. Too many people see it as competition and don't use it to its potential, its not dying, it wont go away.
