4AB gear box to 4AD ?

Hi Everyone .. A friend of mine is restoring a 1952 AD Roadster and does not have a gearbox,.. I have a 4 speed gearbox out of a Singer 4AB , will it fit straight onto a 4 AD without extensive modifications ??.. . I can see that the rear gearbox mount is different in that it has a rubber mounted cover that has the 2 holes, where as the 4AD has a cast mount on the end of the gearbox, and the starter motor housing is slightly smaller in length .. I am not sure about the bolt pattern the bell housing ... Has anyone exchanged these and if so what is needed to make them fit .. Regards Stephen
