I have now proceeded in my quest on creating a chassis plate for my Singer. It looks like it is definitely doable and below are the first few samples. I actually quite like the bit patinated look that my method produces this far. I do have a couple of ideas on how to improve the quality , which I might still try.

Thanks. I will have a few extra plates available after this initial "production" lot and if there is enough interest and demand I can make another lot for sale.
I guess it would also be possible to create the earlier version of the chassis plate (used in 4A to 4AC) as well. It would require creating another screen graphics for that but the actual plate fabrication process would be the same.
I can now confirm that I have reproduction Chassis Plates for Singer 4AD available. The process is fairly laborsome and requires several steps and materials and thus the price is 55 euros (~70 USD).

Currently I only the later chassis plate type that was used on 4AD's. However if there is interest I can produce the earlier type as well now that I know the process. For that I would need to get a confirmation that the earlier plate is the same size than the later 179 x 94 mm (7 1/16 x 3 11/16 in), like I suspect.
